  • Wollongong Lions Tree Planting initiative

    Wollongong Lions Club each year organise a Tree Planting at Greenhouse Park. All Clubs from Region 1 are invited to attend. This initiative started in 2011 and over 3000 tree have been planted in the three event (2011, 2012 and 2013) that it has been held.

    Wollongong Lions members assisted at Puckeys Reserve on Clean up Australia Day. members got into the thick of the rubbish. Pictured are John and Hector dumping the rubbish that they have collected.

    Hellens Hair Artistry Raffle Draw

    $1825.00 was raised by Hellens Hair Artistry in aid of the Lions Queensland Flood Appeal. The raffle was conducted over a period of about 6 weeks with their clients purchasing the tickets. Hellen Mindaz of Hellens Hair Artistry was only too pleased to assist the appeal when Ashton Pettit who works there approached both her and our Club.
    All the staff were very happy with the three winners with many "that is my client" said when a ticket was drawn.

    Wollongong Youth of the Year Entrant wins Region 1 Final

    Wollongong Lions Representative Riley Boughton from Smiths Hill High School won the Region 1 Final on 19 Feb.

    Contestants representing 5 Clubs and schools competed in the public speaking section of the final at Kembla Grange Golf Club.
    Riley not only was the overall winner he took out the public speaking section as well. His 5 minute prepared speech was on the topic of the NBN rollout.
    Riley will now represent Wollongong Lions and Region 1 at the District Final to be held at Ulladulla on 12 March.
    There were over 80 Lions, Guests and Students present on the night.
    NAB representative Shae Davies was one of the judges on the night.
